I have to admit we’re not the biggest fans of Moombahton at Art of Noize, simply because we haven’t found a lot of stuff which feels interesting (although there definitely is some gold out there). At the end of the day it’s just a different groove which people are gonna use to make interesting stuff and these tracks by DJ Macaulay (not Culkin the dude from Home Alone although he does seem to go by the full name as well) definitely fall into that category. The first is a remix of the House track ‘Seek Bromance’ by Tim Berg aka Avicii. This one has been around for a while now, but a couple of weeks ago a guy by the name of ESSBEEDEE did a retouch of it adding some of the midtones and bass. I’d say listen to both versions and see which one fucks up your speakers the best!

After that we have a newer track by Macaulay with some sampling from ‘Good Times’ by Styles P. The moombahton part of this is really musical but I kind of wish the sampling had been left out. Still a sick track and worth listening to.

I love finding new artists with that extra something and just that i did a few minutes ago. Wick-it the Instigator is no newcomer to the game though, producing since 2004 but have been focusing on harder electronic music for the last couple of years. Now releasing his 2nd EP Grindhouse Basterds collaborating with names like Ghostface Killah, Method Man and Busta Rhymes. He has allready been compared to Pretty Lights and are on the rise to becoming really big, atleast in the US. After hearing the Nashvillians tracks you will understand why. You can really trace back his roots in hiphop by the way he builds up a track and the obvious thing of having a rapper as a vocalist in many of his productions. For now my favorite track is the Pulp Fiction themed one but i really like the choice of including the samples from Tears For Fears old track Shout in the Shout At The Devil remix. If you like what he does, go visit his Soundcloud page for a lot of more free downloads.

This is one of best mixtapes i’v heard in a long time. We don’t usually post mixtapes produced by outsiders but this one had it all, it got everything from dubstep to funk. D.VELOPED could be Girl Talks evil cousin for all that i know, he includes everything i love with Girl Talk and infuses some heavy basses and melodies. This mix is perfect for any party out there so next time you host a party, play this and you will have everyone enjoying themself for at least 40 min.

Cypres Hill announced a few weeks back that they were going to release a five track dubstep EP. The EP is going to be released in April and i just can’t wait to hear it. But i came across this one track that has allready been released and it’s an collaboration with wellknown dubstep artist Rusko. This track show that Cypress Hill still got it, listen to it and see if you like their new style as much as i do.
Hopefully the old hiphip group will feature some other interesting names as well when the full EP is released.

Hey guys sorry for the lack of updates the last few days, we’ve all been pretty busy. Even though I’ve been busy I just had to post this new track from our friends in Antichrist for you. It’s a pretty damn fat track. How could I explain it? It has the ‘straight forwardness’ of techno whilst retaining some of the sounds of electro and dubstep. Give it a listen and enjoy.

Lazers, Lazers and more Lazers. More and more producers are using these moombahton inspired lazersounding effects and Ben Hall & Si James aka. Delta Heavy are no exception. I do actually like this gengre which is weird since I don’t like moombahton and this is basicly moombahton version 2.0. As most of you out there reading this (that is if you havent been hiding under a rock the last six months) my mind goes instantly to Knife Party when listening to this track. This is nothing but a compliment to the brits that made this very energetic but still somewhat chill track. I hope for more tracks like this one in the near future and it seems like that’s very likely.

I know this one has been out for a while but somehow i’v missed it until now. My love for a blending metal and trashy electro is huge and this track does just that. It’s such an adrenaline rush to listen to Drivepilots tracks, just makes you wanna go out and run very fast or something like that. Drivepilot aka. Nick Edwards has a bright future ahead and i hope he keeps producing thoose hard and trashy melodies.

Was just about to go to sleep when i noticed Krftkds long anticipated Rock The Beat was beeing released. I heard to preview some days ago and it’s been a few restless days of waiting. Talking about restlessness, this track takes me back to the fidget days when it was all about the bounciness. That was when Crookers dominated my playlist with their “ill” tracks. Ill Cativo still has in my opinion one of the best basslines ever created. Back to the track in focus here, this is one of thoose tracks that actually makes you wanna go to a nightclub. Cause the sound in my headphones doesnt do this track justice, it needs some speakers that can deliver that bass. In conclusion this tracks gives me hope for more electro tracks that can that me back to the fidget days.

I do not know what Figure takes to make him as productive as he is, 63 tracks in one year according to his Soundcloud page (some might be previews but i don’t have the time to count em all, still is alot). Anyway it’s insane! The amount of time he must put in is also crazy cause all his tracks are just massive. Another fact that makes Figure stand out is that he releases all his tracks for free, big ups for that. He is now “back” with another massive remix and as allways its dope. It’s not as grimey as usual but it definitly has that Figure-sound to it. The man deserves all the love he can get so give him some as soon as you done downloading this track.

I have to say Moombahton as a whole hasn’t struck me as entirely interesting so far. Don’t get me wrong, there’s some fantastic Moombahton out there which definitely validates it as a genre, but I find it all a bit overhyped. Cyberpunkers might just be changing that for me with this upcoming mesh of their classic trashy roots fused with the recognizable moombahton rhythm. I love it. The question is, would the “non-moombahton” version of this tune be better than the moombahton version. We shall never know.
